![]() I prioritize compactness over weight in my camera bag, so YMMV. Just to get this out there: I do landscapes and shoot a lot at medium(ish) apertures (f/4 - f/9). This whole post is admittedly a bit of an edge case. Sorry for the click-baity / rage inducing first sentence. For a lot of landscape photographers that will be not much of a problem.Īps-c has better resolution than full frame. Of course, you could use a lens with the same focal length that we used for comparison on a full frame, but it means the medium format will end up with a wider field of view. You need to use even smaller apertures with the increase risk of sharpness degradation (due to light refraction). Getting everything in the scene within acceptable sharpness will be more difficult. Trying to get the same image as a full frame they need to have a longer focal length and thus decreasing the depth of field when keeping distance and aperture the same. Compared to full frame these cameras have a crop that is 0.7 times the full frame sensor. (Canon EOS 5D mark IV EF16-35L 16mm | ISO100 | f/8 | 1,3sec - 3 photos stack)įor those who have one of those beautiful medium format cameras will suffer even more when trying to achieve a maximum depth of field. If you cannot reach the depth of field you want you have the possibility of using focus-stacking. At some point the difference becomes almost too small to notice, except maybe for the landscape photographer that is searching for the absolute maximum depth of field. (source: The difference in depth of field increases when using longer focal lengths and decreases with shorter focal lengths. When the aperture and distance to the subject stays the same, you will have a depth of field that runs from 0.62 meter up to infinity. If you would trade the full frame for a 1.6 crop camera, you will need a 15mm wide angle to have the same field of view. When you have made a composition with the subject at 1.5 meters distance, and you use a full frame camera with 24mm wide angle lens and an aperture of f/11, you will have a depth of field that runs from 0.8 meter up to 10.7 meter. That is because you need a shorter focal length to have the same field of view. I explained how a small sensor size increases the depth of field when you try to achieve a similar photo made with a larger sensor. If you haven’t read it, then perhaps it is good to have a look at it. Let go back to my previous article about the influence of sensor size on depth of field. Due to that shorter focal length you will have a larger depth of field when aperture and distance to the subject is the same. ![]() When using a crop camera like this Fujifilm X-Pro 2 you need a 10mm focal length if you wish the same viewing angle as a 15mm on a full frame. So you can wonder what the benefit is of using a large sensor size for landscape photography? Why not using a smaller sensor? ![]() Thus the dynamic range of a camera for landscape photography is not really necessary (I know, I know, this is a tricky thing to say, because a larger dynamic range can make the use exposure bracketing or filters unnecessary).Įxcept maybe a high pixel count, these two arguments for choosing a large sensor seem not really that important. And for those who don’t see the need for filters, there is always the possibility of using exposure bracketing. Therefor the risk of noise is very low and for that particular reason it is not necessary to use a larger sensor.Ĭoncerning dynamic range, a lot of landscape photographers love using filters to decrease the dynamic range of our scenery. When shooting landscapes we almost always try to use an ISO value as low as possible. Using a full frame camera with a wide angle in combination with a small aperture makes a very large depth of field.(Canon EOS 5D mark IV EF24-70L 24mm | ISO1600 | f/9 | 1/100) 11/21/2023 0 Comments Day after seizure symptoms![]() Seizures in dogs can be scary to watch and seem to last forever. There’s not a huge amount of difference here. Tidal has a very similar feature now, called - can you guess? - ‘Tidal Connect’. But the advantage it held for quite a while with ‘Spotify Connect‘, which allows paying customers to stream directly to systems on a common network, has lately been removed. Tidal has to make do with integration into Apple CarPlay. Spotify’s ‘Car Thing’ (a little touchscreen device to enable safe and stable streaming while you’re driving) is a nice point of difference. And naturally enough both Spotify and Tidal support Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay. It’s available on iOS too, and can be integrated into your Sonos system. Tidal can be accessed via quite a few televisions, too - it’s pretty much a fixture on the Android TV interface. Its app also shows up on any number of smart TV interfaces. Spotify is available on the most recent Sony and Microsoft games consoles, for example, and can be accessed on quite a few smartwatches and other connected wearables too. ![]() Obviously both services have been working on making themselves available on as wide a variety of platforms as possible. Spotify has been promising a ‘HiFi’ tier of its own for quite a while now - but details (of the launch date, of the number of titles that will be available, and of exactly what ‘HiFi’ means in this context) remain sketchy in the extreme. ‘Tidal Masters’ use MQA technology to stream at a giddy 9216kbps. A top-of-the-shop ‘HiFi Plus’ subscription, meanwhile, buys access to some music mastered in Sony 360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos spatial audio, plus access to millions of truly high-resolution audio titles. Tidal, by way of contrast, streams at a CD-quality 1411kbps on its ‘HiFi’ tier. If you’re paying for Spotify, rather than using the free tier, everything comes across at 320kbps. Spotify’s streams run at three compression rates: a frankly miserly 96kbps, 160kbps and 320kbps. Here’s where the most significant differences between Spotify and Tidal can be found. Unless you’ve particularly catholic tastes (I am still waiting for Ginger Thompson’s glorious Boy Watcher to show up on either service), you’ll be able to find the content you’re after on either Spotify or Tidal. I like both, but for different reasons. When you’re talking about numbers of this size, it’s obvious there’s a massive amount of overlap between the two libraries - the likes of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell notwithstanding. So, to summarise: TIDAL for a quick engaging fix of music, Qobuz for all day relaxing listening. I can listen to Qobuz all day long and enjoy having the music in the background. The music doesn’t distract me while I’m working. There isn’t the emotional pull from the music that I get with TIDAL. However, the sound from Qobuz is like velvet, it’s like honey. Coming from TIDAL the UI is all over the place, there’s a distinct lack of useful suggestions and I find it difficult to find songs that I like. Qobuz as a desktop app is hard work, to be honest. TIDAL’s management of the DAP’s filesystem for offline content appears to be a lot better than Qobuz so there’s far less lag in my DAP. The space saved on my micro-SD card for large offline TIDAL playlists is substantial. ![]() MQA works really well for me for offline listening on my DAP. Having said that, it can become fatiguing after a while. In fact, it’s engaging to the point of distraction if I am streaming TIDAL all day in the background while I work. Ignoring MQA for a moment, TIDAL FLACs deliver a really engaging sound. TIDAL is a long way ahead in terms of songs availability for the genres that I like (library), suggestions (Track Radio, Masters Track Radio, Artist Radio, Producer Mix, My Mixes, My Daily Discovery) and UI. I’m running both in parallel at the moment and they both have a place for me with each one having pros and cons. 11/21/2023 0 Comments Any way t play crysis 2 multiplayer![]() ![]() We don't have a date just yet but considering that the game arrives on March 25, we have to assume that demo isn't too far off. ![]() Executive producer Nathan Camarillo told everyone they could "probably hope for" a PS3 demo and that has proven true. On top of which, an announcement at the end of the video tells us a PS3 multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 will be available. Maybe then it would have the chance to be as good as black ops.Ĭrysis 2 opened my eyes to how weak most FPS games have been recently, and it is a must own. Super soldiers are probably the coolest thing around. Obviously, aliens are much cooler than zombies, as well as super soldiers. Imagine how much more amazing Uncharted 2’s single and multiplayer would be if Drake had the ability to turn invisible at will! This is just one of many reasons why this game just might be the best around.įor instance, in Black Ops you fight zombies, but in Crysis 2 you fight aliens. This is an intensely needed addition for something like Uncharted 2. In this game, your soldiers can turn invisible. Better than Killzone 3, Uncharted 2, and Black Ops combined. I think this just might be the best FPS game EVER to hit the PS3. I am currently playing the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo, and I have read all of these comments and honestly, I do not understand what the problem is. Try it out and share your thoughts in the comments. That wait is now over – the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo is now available on the PlayStation Store, featuring two game modes on two maps. I can’t wait for PlayStation 3 owners to get their taste of crazy, insane nanosuit multiplayer action. So it really changes the speed and pace of multiplayer. If it’s a story and half, you can jump and pull yourself up. If it’s one story high, you can jump there. You gotta break the habit of being ground-constrained like in other games. It takes until people see someone jump in front of them that they realize they can jump there. If you wanna go one level higher, go find a ladder, go find some stairs. NC: In most games you’re mentally programmed to stick on the ground. PSB: What should PS3 gamers be looking out for in the demo? If you’re playing single player it’s easily 10-12 hours for a good gamer to get through the game. This avoids eyestrain and eye fatigue, because we want you to play this for hours and hours. We start at the TV screen and then push in. The 2nd part of our implementation is: we don’t throw things out of the screen at you. You get the same experience as you get in the 2D game, except it’s in 3D, which is better. We don’t lose visual quality, we don’t lose resolution. NC: In Cry Engine 3 we have a really tricky implementation of 3D – we’re able to generate the 2nd image with little to no impact. PSB: Talk about 3D implementation Crysis 2 on the PS3. NC: I’ve gone on the record saying that if you stick PS3 and 360 side by side I would challenge anyone to find any meaningful difference. PSB: One recent IGN article said Crysis 2 didn’t look very good on PS3. We want the exact same gameplay experience, the same fun, the same intensity, all the same visual information that you need to understand and play the game appropriately. Nathan Camarillo: It’s the core of CryEngine 3 that’s able to scale appropriately and we can adjust per platform exactly what we wanna get out of it. How do you utilize the PS3 to live up to the high PC standard? PlayStation Blog: We know Crytek can produce on the PC.
